Lady Vols

Pat Summitt has been the University of Tennessee women’s basketball team, the Lady Vols, coach since 1974.Her achviements include eight NCAA championships, seven NCAA Coach of the Year awards and more wins than any college basketball coach-of men or women.
In August of 2011 Coach Summitt announced that she had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia,Alzheimer’s type, the news of course was a shock, her response was not.She promised her team she would continue to coach the Lady Vols, she founded the Pat Summitt Foundation Fund to raise money toward finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Coach Summitt’s advice if you or a loved one have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,continue to live your life fully.Life can be challenging, but we all have more abilities than disablities. You are a gift to your family and the world.Make the world a better place one person at a time.Get educated about the disease and get second opinions.
Finally, encourage everyone to join the battle in finding a cure.Somewhere there is a disease, whether physical or mental that needs an advocate!Be that advocate!
