Patrick finally did escape Ireland and made his way to Britain and then to France where he joined a monastery and studied under St.German,the bishop of Auxere.He spent 17 years in training. In that time he became a bishop and dreamed that the Irish were calling him back to Ireland to tell them about God.With the blessings of the Pope, Patrick returned to Ireland to convert the Gaelic Irish,who were mostly pagans to Christianity.
Many of the stories associated with St.Patrick are legends but have grown to be regarded as facts.St.Patrick died on March 17 AD,461 and is death is
commemorated on St.Patrick’s Day ever since.
