Many cell phones die from drowning than from any other cause but resuscitation is possible using these steps.
Remove the battery immediately and resist the urge to turn on your phone to check if it works – just powering it on can fry the circuits. Remove the SIM card also, which retains data, even if the phone is toast.
A phone that remains wet for too long will start to corrode. Don’t use your hair dryer;it’s too hot for this purpose. A can of compressed air will work better,an air compressor set to a low PSI, or a wet -dry vacuum.
Sop up the remaining moisture by immersing your phone in uncooked white rice for at least 12 hours. No rice than place the phone on paper towels, then put in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes. Replace the battery and power it up to see if it works, if it doesn’t, remove the battery, and stick the phone back in the freezer for another 5 to 10 minutes. There is a good chance your phone will be working again after a couple of tries.
