The “selfie” is not a new concept, in fact the first photographic self-portrait was taken by Robert Cornelius in 1839. He looked pouty.
For us it’s about the impulse to capture our youth.
Today’s cellphone cameras make it easier to take photos of ourselves, plus they make us look better than we actually do. Hold the phone at a 45-degree angle above your eye line–now you have huge doll-baby eyes.
